Meet The Librarian

Hello!
My name is John Igoe, and I have had the privilege of serving as the RMS Librarian since 2023. While my official title may be librarian, my role at RMS has grown into so much more. I love creating opportunities for students to connect, discover new interests, build confidence, and, most importantly, have fun while they learn and grow.
Outside of my work in the library, I am fortunate to run several student clubs, including D&D Club, Esports Club, Basketball Club, and Card Game Club. Each club gives students a chance to be themselves, make new friends, develop teamwork and problem-solving skills, and
find something they are passionate about.
Basketball is another big part of what I do at RMS. I am proud to serve as the coach of the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams. Coaching has given me another wonderful opportunity to work with students and help them understand that success is about more than what happens on the court. It is about learning how to work together, overcome challenges, support one another, take responsibility, and keep pushing forward—even when things don’t go as planned.
At the heart of everything I do is my love for working with kids. I truly enjoy getting to know our students, watching them discover who they are, and helping them become the best versions of themselves. Seeing a student gain confidence, overcome an obstacle, try something new, or simply realize that someone believes in them is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I believe that middle school is an important time in a young person’s life. Students are figuring out who they are, what they enjoy, and what kind of person they want to become. My goal is to be someone who encourages them along the way, gives them a safe place to explore their
interests, and reminds them that they are capable of amazing things.
Whether you find me in the library, rolling dice during D&D, cheering from the sidelines of a basketball game, playing cards, or helping students compete in Esports, you’ll find the same person: someone who genuinely cares about kids and wants to help them grow into amazing young adults.
I’m grateful to be part of the RMS community and excited to continue learning, laughing, coaching, and growing alongside our students.
